Another reason to go easy on the salt...

Although I am not usually hesistant in reaching for the salt shaker, an excessively salty lunch, eating too many processed foods, and now, the article below, reminds me to watch my sodium intake. The article discusses an increase in kidney stone diagnoses in US children, naming dehydration and high sodium intake as possible risk factors.

Great article! Very informative!

I like to get my salt @ http://www.sustainablesourcing.com/

Using HimalaSalt, the finest of all Himalayan sea salts, helps to:

Sharpens vital brain functions, improves mental clarity

Anti-aging; rids the body of acidic wastes that cause degeneration

Peaceful, relaxed quality of energy, better moods, positive thoughts

Ease cramps, constipation, digestive disorders

Regulates and purifies critical body fluid levels

Purifying, detoxifying to the blood

Stronger libido, sexual vitality, more vigor

Essential minerals replenishes vital electrolytes

Nutrients are absorbed more efficiently by the body.

Foods cooked with HimalaSalt taste better, and their nutrients are absorbed better by the body.

It's also good for your pet.

Pretty amazing!

I have to wonder what is in "HimalaSalt" and if it is safe, especially when it has 8+ side effects.

If it 'sharpens vital brain function', I'd have to assume it's a stimulant like Adderall, ephedrine, caffeine (which also 'improve mental clarity). Or is this mental clarity more spiritual like a serotonergic hallucinagen like LSD - more of a spiritual kind of mental clarity.

Anti-aging, rids the body of acidic wastes? It causes metabolic alkalosis?? What is this waste and what are these anti-aging benefits. There is a researcher at UCSF working w/ C. elegans who might want to check this 'salt' out.

Peaceful, relaxed quality of energy, better moods, positive thoughts = anti-depressant (SNRI?) to treat anxiety, low energy, and a mood disorder?

Ease cramps, constipation, digestive disorders --> muscarinic agonist like bethanchol? muscarine?

Regulates and pures critical body fluids AND blood --> is this a solutions for patients on dialysis? Save a lot time and money for patients, that's for sure.

Stronger libido, sexual vitality, more vigor --> libido in both males and females is primarily associated with testosterone...testosterone also is known to cause virilization in women. Let's hope it isn't too efficient in this pathway.

Bottom line, this salt may taste good, but the side effects seem dangerous (probably should be studied by the FDA to ensure safe use, esp. with these side effects). Michelle, if I were you, I might would want to stick with common table salt or kosher salt (but watch out for the goiter! Hypothyroidism, it's not fun!).

I need to be careful about it too. I just found out _I_ have high blood pressure. WTF?!? Stupid genetics. Anyway, time to really start watching the salt. Sigh.
